Self-Care for You
Do you ever do something special for yourself? If you’re like me, and most people, you are probably neglecting your self-care. Most of us forget to do this. You are not alone. But, the truth is, if you are not taking care of yourself, then it is hard for you to be able to take care of everyone else in your life.
Not sure what I mean by self-care? Well, it’s any kind of activity that you do deliberately to take the time to take care of yourself. It benefits your mental, emotional, and physical health. Let’s be honest, in theory, it’s a very simple concept, but it’s still so often overlooked.
It’s super important to find a way to do something for yourself at least once a month. It’s vital for improving your health, happiness, mood, and it can even help to reduce anxiety. Think of it as a fresh start every time. Not sure where to start? Here are some ideas!
Some Self-care Examples
- Schedule a Massage
- Go to the Chiropractor
- Sleep in (I know, this one can be hard, but try!)
- Take a long walk
- Watch a movie you’ve been wanting to see
- Schedule a Weekend Retreat
- Relax in the sun or go to the pool or beach
- Take some time and organize your desk – make it a special place where you want to be
- Try a new healthy recipe
- Talk out your day with a therapist
- Visit a Spa
- Create your own Spa Day at home
- Read a book
These are only a few ideas for self-care. There are so many more things you can do. Do something for you and that makes you happy. Trust me, it makes it easier to get back to doing all the things you need to do!
By the way, you don’t have to do it alone. If you want, grab a friend, your kid, or your spouse, and include them. This will help you and them while also benefiting your relationships. What’s important is that you schedule this monthly date with yourself!
